Hawthorne Yogi Shows Her 'Rebel' Streak With New Studio & New Skincare Line

The Mount Pleasant native, who injured herself during a sports injury, discovered hot yoga during her recovery and was instantly hooked.

After utilizing it as her main form of physical therapy, she started leading yoga for athlete classes and from there branched off to create what she calls her "Rebel flow."

"The Rebel flow incorporates athletic and dynamic movements, plyometrics, core and booty work," said the Hawthorne resident.

Now, she's opening her own place, appropriately named Rebel Yoga, offering the broad range of class times and classes she couldn't find elsewhere -- think a combination of hot and non-hot sessions specializing in strength vinyasa with a dynamic, modern twist.

"By opening my own space I will be able to not only offer what we are lacking in our community but also be able to create and hold space for clients looking to let go of everyday stressors, get a good workout in with some peace of mind," said Sabatino.

"I also believe I am bringing a completely different vibe and meaning to what we all think we know of yoga."

Sabatino's entrepreneurial streak extends, too, to her recently launched GetDirty skincare line, officially a year old this past November.

After reading an article about the positive effects coffee and caffeine have on the skin, she decided to make her own products. They were so fun -- and such a hit -- she started selling them.

Her coffee-based items -- there's a body scrub, whipped body oil and soy candles --  are personally handmade by Sabatino and are designed, she said, "to get you naked."

"All of the ingredients are 100 percent organic with unrefined oils and nothing you can’t pronounce for all sensitive to normal skin types," she explained.

"It is raw, unfiltered and everything you didn’t know you needed."

The one-woman-band -- she does all the design and packaging herself, along with the labelling, mixing and creating --  is presently working on a new product which she'll launch in 2018.

GetDirty is sold online as well as in multiple retail stores throughout Westchester such as DermaGlow Spa in North Salem, Dunkin Kehn in Briarcliff Manor, Hott Salon in Rye Brook and -- naturally -- at her new studio, which will open Friday, Dec. 8.

That weekend, in fact, she will offer complimentary classes (sign-up in advance is mandatory since each class is capped at 25). Open House is Saturday, Dec. 9 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Rebel Studio is at 653 Commerce St., www.rebelyogatraining.com or email studio@rebelyogatraining.com. For GetDirty info, go to www.getdirtynewyork.com/.
