STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - State College police said a crash that shut down state Route 322 Wednesday resulted in one death.

Police said 47-year-old Robert Bloom, of Bellefonte, was killed in the crash.

According to police, the crash happened around 7:45 a.m. at the Mount Nittany Expressway, between the College Avenue and Elmwood Street overpasses.

Police said a 19-year-old driver was traveling west on state Route 322 when she lost control of her Chevrolet Malibu and crossed into oncoming traffic and struck a Ford Focus, driven by Bloom, head-on.

Bloom was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 19-year-old driver and a 15-year-old passenger in Bloom's car were taken to Mount Nittany Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the crash.

PennDOT said the roadway was shut down for several hours, but have since reopened. A second wreck also happened in the area a couple of hours later.

State College police continue to investigate, and anyone with any information on the crash is asked to call the State College Police Department.
